Zoning Commission

We have now officially requested that the city of Billings Zoning Commission consider a zoning amendment that would exclude a limited number of poultry from city ordinance prohibiting “livestock” within city limits. The request has been emailed in and will be likewise sent via USPS in today’s mail to make the May 11 deadline. This enables the Zoning Commission to add our amendment request to their June 7 meeting.

This is only the first step in what may be a fairly involved process, although we are requesting that Billings utilize the same code amendments that the city of Great Falls, MT is currently in the process of approving (hopefully). Great Falls has done an excellent job not only outlining the codes but also detailing sanitation and shelter requirements. We live in this city, we want it to remain a pleasant and attractive place to live… well-maintained hens will only add to our property values.
